The Nobel Prize is awarding the greatest benefits to Humankind!
Every year on the 8th of December the award-winners of the Nobel prize for that year is invited to a wonderful concert at the concert hall in Stockholm and later on the 10th of December each year the Swedish King and Queen jointly with the Nobel Foundation invites all the Nobel prize winners to a grand banquet. The same dates every year. They are very formal and exclusive gatherings these events and I have had the great pleasure of attending some of them. These festivities are broadcasted on TV as well.
On 27 November 1895, Alfred Nobel signed his last will and testament, giving the largest share of his fortune to a series of prizes in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and Peace – the Nobel Prizes. In 1968, Sweden’s central bank established The Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel.
Alfred Nobel wrote in his will that the Nobel Prize was to be awarded to those who, during the preceding year, have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind.
Between 1901 and 2018, the Nobel Prizes and the Prize in Economic Sciences were awarded 590 times to 935 people and organizations. With some receiving the Nobel Prize more than once, this makes a total of 904 individuals and 24 organizations.
How wonderful isn’t it that we every year has a reason to celebrate the people in the world who have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind!
